Day 01: Kathmandu Arrival (1400m) – Overnight in Kathmandu

Your Arrival Time – Airport pickup and transfer to your Hotel. Original passport and photograph collection for Chinese visa processing.

Hotel: 5 Star Hotel – Dusit Princess or similar

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing & Fly to Nepalgunj (150m) – Overnight in Nepalgunj

After Breakfast – Half day sightseeing of Pashupatinath and Shakti Peeth.

Afternoon – Flight Kathmandu to Nepalgunj (1hr) & Transfer to Hotel in Nepalgunj or travel to Surkhet and stay overnight at Surkhet depending upon the situation.

Meal: Breakfast & Lunch in Kathmandu, Dinner at Nepalgunj.

Day 03: Fly Nepalgunj – Simikot (2900m) – Overnight in Simikot

Early Morning – Flight Nepalgunj to Simikot (1hr). Rest day at Simikot.

Meal: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner | Hotel:  Hotel Bijaya or similar on sharing basis

Day 04: Heli to Hilsa (3700m) & Drive to Taklakot (3900m) – Overnight in Taklakot

Morning – Take Helicopter to Hilsa (20 min – 12kg weight limit) & wait for other members to arrive at Hilsa (since it is a group visa and everyone has to enter Tibe as one group)

Afternoon – From Hilsa drive to Purang border to Taklakot (27 km) and stay at a Hotel. We will stay overnight at Taklakot (on the way we have to pass up to 3 Checkpoints where checking might take up to 1 hr in each post)

Meal: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner | Hotel: Hotel Himalaya, New Purang, Riverside or Similar

Day 05 At Taklakot (3900m) – Rest Day – Overnight in Taklakot

All Day – Entire day free for Acclimatization

Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Hotel: Hotel Himalaya, New Purang, Riverside or similar

Day 06: Drive to Manasarovar Lake (4550m) – Overnight at Manasarovar

After Breakfast – Drive towards Manasarovar Lake (95 km). On the way you will have to pass the first checkpoint. Then after driving for 70 km from Taklakot we will reach Rakshas Tal. On the right of Rakshas Tal you will see Gurla Mandhata Parvat & first view of Mount Kailash . Drive from Rakshas Tal to Manasarovar Lake (25 km).

Start Parikrama of Manasarovar Lake (90 km – 3hr by Private A/C Coach). Perform Puja.

Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Hotel: Guesthouse on multiple sharing basis.

Day 07: 1st Day of Parikrama – Drive to Darchen (4650m) & Yama Dwar & Trek to Dirapuk (4880m) – Overnight in Dirapuk

After Breakfast – Drive to Darchen (35 km – 1hr) and Yama Dwar (8 km) – the starting point for Kora. We will trek to Dirapuk for 12 km (5 to 7hrs). Travelers who do not want to trek around (Parikrama) Mt. Kailash can go back to Darchen and wait for the rest of the group to arrive from Parikrama.

Meal: Breakfast at Manasarovar, Packed Lunch & Dinner

Hotel: Guesthouse on the way during Parikrama or Stay in Dormitory of Guest House at Darchen on multiple sharing.

NOTE: Yatris not doing the Parikrama, will have  to wait at Darchen (4650m)

Day 08: 2nd Day of Parikrama – Onto Zuthulphuk (4670m) via Trek to Dolma La Pass (5700m)

07:00AM – Trek from Dirapuk to Dolma La Pass and proceed to Zuthulphuk (22 km trek for 8-9 hours trek). The first stage of the trip is a two-hour ascent to Dolma La Pass (5700 m | 18700 ft). The trail brings us past Yamasthal on our way to Shiva-sthal, with each step bringing us closer to the Dolma-La Pass. There are some tea shops before you reach Dolma La Pass where you can have tea and hot refreshments or buy water/juice. After Dolma La Pass, the route descends for an hour before straightening out for 2-3 hours till we reach Zuthulphuk. You’ll be able to see Gauri Kunda (The Pond of Goddess Parvati) as well while descending from Dolma la pass.

NOTE: Yatris not doing the Parikrama, will have to wait at Darchen

Day 09: 3rd Day of Parikrama – Trek to Darchen – Drive to Hilsa via Taklakot – Overnight at  Hilsa / Simikot

After Breakfast – After a short easy Trek (8 km – 3hrs), we will reach our Private A/C Coach pick up point. Then drive to Darchen (3 km) and merge with other members who stayed back. From there drive to Hilsa (122 kms – 4 to 5hrs including immigration and customs). Also we might take a helicopter to Simikot based on the situation.

Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Hotel: Mansarovar Guest House or Similar at Hilsa or Hotel Bijaya or similar at Simikot.

Day 10: Fly Hilsa – Simikot – Nepalgunj & Fly back to Kathmandu – Overnight in Kathmandu

Fly to Hilsa to Simikot (20 mins) by Helicopter – Fly from Simikot to Nepalgunj (around 1hr) and fly back to Kathmandu (or proceed to Lucknow by Road)

Meal: Breakfast at Simikot, Lunch at Nepalgunj, Dinner at Kathmandu I Hotel: 5 Star – Dusit Princess  or similar

Day 11: Transfer to Kathmandu Airport

  7. If pilgrims leave the group early from Tibet side for non-disease reasons then USD 100 per person per day has to be paid as penalty to the Tibet side – T.A.R. Foreign Exchange Center (FEC).  Also visa splitting charge, accommodation, transportation charges will be extra

PREPARATION

PLANNING & PREPARATION

Since this pilgrimage is nothing short of an expedition. It demands good health and physical fitness. Those with a history of blood pressure, diabetes, heart ailments, epilepsy and asthma should avoid this journey or consult their personal physician for advice if they wish to dare. Awareness to the uncommon demands and situations faced during the pilgrimage is essential to complete the spiritual voyage successfully with confidence. Once the pilgrimage commences the panoramic Himalayas and Tibet cocoon it in their effulgence and they drift beyond the reach of a conventional world. A proper and disciplined planning would ensure that every pilgrim returns home spiritually enriched. We are glad to provide you with all the necessary information and broad guidelines, but it is advisable for each one to organize oneself according to individual needs and preferences.

HEALTH

Those in good health should have no difficulty traveling to this region. Due to the high altitude of this area, travellers may experience the effect of altitude sickness, which is characterized by mild headaches, nausea and loss of appetite. Altitude sickness can be reduced by frequently drinking non-alcoholic liquids such as water and juice, 3 to 4 litres a day. Travellers are reminded to protect themselves from the strong sun light which can cause sun burn. Those with health conditions including asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, epilepsy and cardiac problems should seek doctor’s approval before embarking on this journey.

PARTICIPATION DETAILS

The application form has to be duly filled.

A passport size photograph has to be affixed on the application form and 2 extra copies enclosed. Your browser may not support display of this image.

A medical certificate from a recognized physician certifying that you are fit to travel at an altitude of 19000 feet has to be enclosed.

All desiring pilgrims must hold valid passports with at least more than 6 months of validity from
the date of travel. The Photostat copies of the passport have to be submitted at the time of confirming your booking. All Indian passport holders would be required to submit their original passports to us 15 days prior to their departure. The passports would be handed over to the yatris before their date of departure.

A demand draft / cheque of Rs. 20,000 favouring ‘Leisure Port payable at Mumbai on booking and balance to be paid at least 45 days prior to the departure.

Incase of foreign participants and NRIs the remittance of 100% tour cost should reach us at least 45 days prior to departure.

Participants are responsible for complying with all formalities required by Nepalese and Chinese authorities en route. Any participant carrying unlawful drugs, political propaganda, firearms or banned published materials will immediately be excluded from the tour.

DOCUMENTS

All related documents should be updated for your travel. A valid passport is necessary and Photostat copies of the same must be sent to us at least a month in advance to obtain Chinese Visa. Debit and credit cards can be used in Nepal but only cash (Yuan /USD) in Tibet. It is advisable to keep Photostat copies of the passport and the articles mentioned below with you at all times during the journey.

Any other documents required for personal use.
A waist pouch to carry all the above-mentioned articles.

EMERGENCY

The weather in Tibet and the border areas of Nepal is unpredictable during the pilgrimage period. In case of landslides it becomes mandatory to change vehicles which is an additional cost to us. The same has to be borne collectively by the pilgrims. Every pilgrim should be able to carry their own daypack/handbag in case of landslide or pay the porterage. Oxygen cylinders with mask and regulator sets are always carried by us and are provided only when necessary.

INSURANCE

It is advisable for all travellers to Tibet to have a comprehensive travel protection insurance that includes curtailment of tour, helicopter evacuation and other medical emergencies. The Photostat details should be provided to us so that in case of emergency the same could forwarded to the concerned agent/insurance company.

COMMUNICATION

We at LEISURE PORT understand the importance of being in touch with your dear and near ones. Your cell phone will be accessible throughout Nepal and Tibet if International roaming is activated. Kindly check the international roaming charges applicable on your network. Overland travel in Nepal will be in a private bus and in Tibet in a Chinese Coach. A truck is provided to carry all the equipment, foodstuff and luggage. Luggage must be kept minimum to a handbag on person.

CURRENCY

RENMINBI, the official Chinese currency used by the Tibetans is circulated in denominations (notes) of 1,2,5,10,100 Yuan, 1,2 and 5 jiao and coins of 1,2 and 5 fen. 1 Yuan is equivalent to 10 jiao or approximately INR 12+. It is advisable to carry Chinese Yuan to avoid unhealthy rates and futile bargaining in Nepal/Tibet.

CATERING

While on the journey in Tibet we serve only vegetarian meals. Breakfast every morning, would include tea, coffee, milk, drinking chocolate, cereals etc. Packed lunch would be provided while travelling and hot dinner with tasty soup will be served for dinner. The meals served to you will be typical Indian in taste and variety. We are competent enough to provide any type of cuisine (Chinese, Continental etc.) Any recommendation/suggestion or requirement in terms of catering has to be passed on to us at the time of your reservation. Boiled water / mineral water can be filled in your personal water bottles/flasks every day before and after our daily journey.

BRIEFING AND ORIENTATION

CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES

Lightweight suitcase and travel bag, towels, pure wool and thick cotton socks, hot water bottles and bag ,long Johns or full thermal wear of wool or mixed combinations ,2 pairs of ked / boots (very light, skid-proof, water resistant, ankle protection and soft interior), down jacket (light, quilted and well-insulated), wind cheaters / umbrella / raincoat with hood, woollen pullovers / polo neck ,black and dark sunglasses with a chain (contact lens is not advisable during the journey), conventional spectacles ,thick woollen trousers , warm & light gloves (woollen and leather) facial tissues ,Caps (sun, snow and rain protection), eye masks, woollen monkey cap, earmuffs, scarf, dust cover (surgeon’s mask ),cotton undergarments

EQUIPMENT

Personal jewellery must be kept to a minimum. Camera with extra cells or power bank. Torch with spare cells (water-proof, powerful and preferably one head torch). Suitable device to listen to music, prayers etc. during travel and to record daily events.

Binoculars , plastic glass or mug Thermos flak Swiss multipurpose knife ,small plastic bags, leak proof plastic water bottles / cans for carrying water from Lake Manas Sarovar and Gauri Kund. Candles, lighter, match box. A movie camera can be carried to Tibet but it is advisable to get it noted at the time of departure in your home country if necessary and at the Immigration centre in Tibet.

RISK AND LIABILITY

The tour itineraries to the Kailash Region are conducted under the rules and regulations of Tibet Tourism Bureau. The Chinese authorities strictly supervise the tour to Kailash Manas Sarovar and LEISURE PORT will not be responsible for any changes in the itinerary due to unavoidable circumstances such as landslides, road blockade, flood, snow, political unrest, cancellation of flights, sickness accidents etc. Any extra cost arising due to the above mentioned factors shall be borne by the Yatris / passengers.
